Fried Chicken Wontons

Wontons are small parcels of ground chicken meat wrapped in wheat-based wrappers and deep-fried as an evening snack. This recipe yields the best and easiest homemade fried chicken wontons that are super crispy and delicious. Wontons are one of the most delicious foods on the planet. I made two types of wontons, one round and the other leaf-shaped.
 Ingredients:

Filling:

 ·      1 pound ground chicken

 ·      1/2 cup finely chopped green onions

 ·      1/4 cup finely chopped carrots

 ·      1/4 cup finely chopped cabbage

 ·      1 tablespoon soy sauce

 ·      1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional).

 ·      1 tsp sesame oil

 ·      1/2 tsp ginger paste

 ·      1/4 tsp garlic powder

 ·      1/4 tsp white pepper

 ·      1 egg white

Wontons:

 ·      1 wonton wrapper package (50)

 ·      Water for sealing

Frying:

 ·      Deep-frying vegetable oil

HOW TO PREPARE

 1. To make the filling, combine ground chicken, green onions, carrots, cabbage, soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), sesame oil, ginger paste, garlic powder, white pepper, and egg white in a large mixing bowl. Mix everything together until it's evenly distributed.

  2. Assemble the wontons: Place a wonton wrapper in the palm of your hand. Fill the center with a heaping teaspoon of filling. Water should be brushed around the edges. To make a triangle, fold one corner diagonally over the filling. Fold the remaining two corners up and press the edges together to seal. Continue with the remaining wrappers and filling.

3. Heat the oil: Pour about 2 inches of vegetable oil into a deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pot. Heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

Tips:

 ·      Double-fry the wontons for extra crispiness. Fry for 1 minute at 350°F, then set aside to cool slightly. Then, fry them for another 1-2 minutes, or until golden and crispy.

 ·      For a healthier alternative, bake the wontons. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until crispy, flipping halfway through.

 ·      Adjust the filling and seasoning to your preference. Other vegetables, such as mushrooms, cabbage, or bell peppers, can be added.

 ·      Use your imagination when it comes to dipping sauces, Consider a peanut sauce, a sweet and sour sauce, or a spicy mayo sauce.

 ·      To fry wontons without a deep fryer, use a large pot or Dutch oven with a deep oil. Test the heat by dropping dough into the oil, avoid overcrowding, and serve immediately for optimal texture.
