CRISPY CHICKEN NUGGETS

Homemade, crispy chicken nuggets are sure to please both adults and children. You may have a healthier and more delicious alternative to store-bought chicken nuggets by making your own.

This is a basic recipe that you can use:

Ingredients required

The best homemade chicken nuggets are these ones. They are straightforward to make and only require staples from the pantry. You can certainly add more spices if you'd like, but I prefer to keep things simple.

1 pound of 1-inch-cut, boneless, skinless chicken breasts

• Half a cup of all-purpose flour

• One tsp salt

• Half a teaspoon of black pepper

• A single egg

• A single cup of Panko breadcrumbs

• 1/4 cup of Parmesan cheese, grated

• 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil

Instructions:.

1. Bread the chicken: Cut the breasts into small pieces that are easy to bite into. In a shallow medium bowl, combine the flour and all the seasonings; whisk together with a fork. Whisk the eggs in a different bowl. Dredge the chicken pieces in flour, then in egg mixture, and finally back in flour. Repeat the breading process to get a thicker coating.

2. Fry: Cook the chicken nuggets in hot oil in batches for about 5 to 7 minutes, until they are crispy and golden brown. I like to use a Dutch oven on medium-high heat, but you can also use a big skillet or pan. Using a slotted spoon, remove and transfer to a sizable baking sheet covered in paper towels to absorb any leftover oil.

3. Baking: If you would rather bake the nuggets, coat the chicken in seasoned bread crumbs after coating it in egg, rather than flour (panko breadcrumbs add a great crunch). After breading the chicken, place it onto a wire rack and then drizzle some oil over it. Bake at 220°C/430°F for 10 to 15 minutes until golden brown, crisp, and tender.

FAQ

Can I use my air fryer to make chicken nuggets?

Indeed. However, since flour doesn't cook in the air fryer the same way it does in hot oil, I wouldn't advise coating it in flour as the last step. Rather, coat the chicken with a mixture of flour, egg, and seasoned breadcrumbs. Toss to coat, or mist with a small amount of olive oil, then place in the air fryer set to 180ºC/350ºF for 15 minutes, or until golden and crispy.

Can we freeze nuggets?

After breading the chicken nuggets according to the recipe, arrange them in a single layer on a baking sheet. Freeze for up to three months after transferring to a freezer bag after it has solidified. Fry from frozen until crisp and golden brown.

How long can nuggets be frozen?

There are differences in the amount of time that homemade and store-bought chicken nuggets can be frozen.

Personalized Chicken Nuggets:

You can freeze homemade chicken nuggets for up to four months. Freeze the cooled nuggets for one to two hours, or until they are solid, in a single layer on a baking sheet. The frozen nuggets should then be moved to a bag or container that is freezer-safe.

Chicken Nuggets from the store:

You can freeze store-bought chicken nuggets for one to three months. For precise instructions, refer to the packaging as different brands might have different freezing temperatures.

Once cooked, nuggets can be refrigerated for up to three days and then reheated in a hot oven until thoroughly heated.

 Advice:

• You can add 1/4 teaspoon of paprika or garlic powder to the breadcrumb mixture for a more flavorful coating.

• You can use regular bread crumbs in place of Panko bread crumbs if you don't have any.

• Alternatively, bake the nuggets in an air fryer for ten to twelve minutes, or until they are thoroughly cooked.

• Accompany with your preferred dipping sauce, like barbecue sauce, honey mustard, or ketchup.

Fried chicken nuggets taste fantastic when served with salad, French fries, or potato wedges. They also make a fantastic meal when served with dipping sauces (Ranch dressing and BBQ sauce are always a good choice).
